Overview: Analog Reinvented ES9291
Stereo High-Performance SMART CODEC with PowerLine Driver Product Datasheet The SABRE® ES9291 High-Performance SMART CODEC is a world class stereo analog-to-digital (ADC) and stereo digitalto-analog (DAC) targeted for professional audio interfaces, very high-quality microphones, live stream media, powered speakers, mixers, recorders and other applications.
The ES9291 is a cost-effective solution that has 2 integrated ADCs & DACs using ESS’ patented Hyperstream® IV Architecture, which delivers unprecedented audio sound quality and specifications, including a True DNR of +121dB and a THD+N ratio -110dB per channel. An analog-to-analog direct monitoring path with a mix mode is supported with very low latency. The ES9291 supports I2S/LJ master/slave, TDM I/O and DSD input. The ES9291 includes 8 pre-programmed FIR filters that are complementary to both ADC & DAC.
The ES9291 SMART CODEC incorporates ESS’ 2nd generation Audio Signal Processors (ASP2) on both the DAC & ADC data paths. Customers can integrate multi-band PEQs, MIXERs, DRC, AGL, stereo widening, and specialty filters such as RIAA and cross-over filters.
Leveraging ESS’ SABRE Intelligence Studio (SI Studio) simplifies programming the ASP2, potentially reducing or eliminating separate DSP requirements.
