DESCRIPTION
CS8974 is a general-purpose MCU with 32KB code memory (organized as 32Kx16) of embedded-flash memory and 2KB (organized as 2Kx13) SRAM for data manipulations. Both SRAM and e-Flash implement built-in ECC that corrects 1-bit error and detects two-bit errors. CPU can access the e-Flash through program address read and through Flash Controller which can perform software read/write operations of e-Flash for EEPROM emulations.
CPU in CS8974 is 1-T 8051 with enhanced multiplication and division accelerator. There are two clock sources for the system, one is a 16MHz IOSC (manufacturer calibrated +/- 2%) and the other one is SOSC32KHz (typical 32KHz) which is divided by a slow oscillator (SOSC) 128KHz. Both clock sources have a clock programmable divider for scaling down the frequency to save power dissipations. The clock selections are bined with flexible power management schemes, including NORMAL, IDLE, STOP, and SLEEP modes to balance speed and power consumption.
