General Description

The MP2642 is a highly integrated, bidirectional active balancer that provides up to 1A of charge redistribution among Li-ion, Li-polymer, or lithium iron phosphate batteries in a two-series battery pack.

As an alternative to dissipating energy with passive balancing, the MP2642 efficiently moves charge between cells to minimize balancing time and heat generation.

The device can also compensate for cell capacity mismatch to extend battery runtime.

  • Wide Operating Voltage Range Compatible with LiFePO4 Batteries: o 2.4V Minimum Cell Voltage o 4.35V Maximum Cell Voltage.
  • Low Quiescent Current (IQ): o CU Pin IQ: Below 15μA o CL Pin IQ: Below 0.1μA.
  • Buck-Balance Mode: o Net Transfer Current to Lower Cell (CL) o Configurable between 0.5A and 1A.
  • Boost-Balance Mode: o Net Transfer Current to Upper Cell (CU) o Configurable between 0.5A and 1A.
  • Protections: o Thermal Shutdown o Internal CL Port Battery.
