These devices integrate two unidirectional level shifters for the reset and clock signals, a bidirectional level shifter for the serial data stream, and ±10kV ESD protection on all card contacts. The MAX1840 includes a SHDN control input to aid insertion and removal of SIM and smart cards, while the MAX1841 includes a system-side data driver to support system controllers without open-drain outputs. The logic supply voltage range is +1.4V to +5.5V for the “controller side” and +1.7V to +5.
