The NTE842 is a monolithic silicon integrated circuit in a 16–Lead DIP type package designed to perform IF amplification, tuner AGC, and composite sync–separation functions in color or monochrome TV receivers. PIN diodes are used in the IF amplifiers for gain control, resulting in increased dynamic range and better signal–to–noise ratio.
