PRELIMINARY SigmaTel, Inc. Integrating Mixed-Signal Solutions STAC9701/3 Multimedia Audio Codec for AC 97 GENERAL DESCRIPTION: SigmaTel’s STAC9701/3 are general purpose 18-bit, full duplex, audio codecs that conform to the analog component specification of AC 97 (Audio Codec 97 Component Specification rev. 1.03). The STAC9701/3 incorporates SigmaTel’s proprietary Sigma-Delta technology to achieve signal quality in excess of 95dB SNR. The DACs, ADCs, and mixers are integrated with analog I/Os which include four analog line-level stereo inputs, two analog line-level mono inputs, and 3 output channels. The Audio Codec 97 specification calls for separation of the basic analog codec functions from the high level digital control functions for improved noise immunity.
