Ideally suited for high port density Gigabit Ethernet switches and routers, or multi-port Network Interface Cards (NICs), Vitesse's VSC8224 integrates four low-power, triple speed (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T) Ethernet transceivers with four 1000BASE-X patible serializer / deserializer (SerDes) in a 19 mm, thermally-enhanced, 260-pin plastic ball grid array (BGA).
