The WD1993 is a bus-orientated MOS/LSI device designed to provide the Avionics Arinc 429 Data Communication Protocol, along with programmable character length capabilities.
Also, the WD1993 contains a local loop-back test mode of operation, which is controlled by the Loop Test Enable (LTE) bit in the command register.
In this diagnostic mode, the transmitter output is "looped-back" into the receiver input.
