General Description

The µPD16836 is a three-phase spindle motor driver for CD-ROM drives which consists of a CMOS control circuit and MOS bridge output.

It employs a three-phase full-wave PWM driving method and a MOS FET in the output stage to lower the power consumption compared with drivers using conventional bipolar transistors.
