The circuit topology switches over between buck and boost smoothly based on the relationship of the input voltage and the output voltage which is observed by the internal PWM controller. Due to the internal FETs, the number of external ponents is reduced. Also, a 6MHz switching frequency enables smaller external ponents, such as a coil and capacitors, to be used.
