The ISL29002 can control display panel backlighting depending on ambient light conditions, adding artificial intelligence by approximating the response of a human eye. The ISL29002 can also manage portable peripheral illumination based upon lighting conditions extending battery life. In normal operation, the ISL29002 consumes less than 300µA of supply current. A software power down mode is controlled via the I2C interface and disables all but the I2C interface. The supply current is then reduced to less than 88µA.
